You may have heard of Mike Rowe from one of his TV shows, “Dirty Jobs” or “Somebody’s Gotta Do It.” He’s a tireless advocate of skilled labor and training in the building trades. In fact, he has a half million dollars to give away for students who are interested in learning a trade. The 2019 Work Ethic Scholarship Program opened on January 28 and runs through March 28.
According to the scholarship website, “We’re looking for the next generation of aspiring workers who will work smart and hard. This program doesn’t focus on test scores, grades, or grammar. It’s about the people who share our values and understand the importance of work ethic, personal responsibility, delayed gratification, and a positive attitude.”
