"College: Making It Happen" is intended primarily for 6th through 9th grade students and their families, and provides practical and easy-to-understand information on how to prepare academically and financially for college. It promotes academic achievement and accessibility, educational planning, and parental involvement. This event reaffirms the message that college preparation begins many years before the final year in high school, and that college planning is a family affair. Space is limited. Join us in the COHS MP Room, where we'll discuss how to prepare for and when to take the PSAT, SAT, and ACT tests. We'll also outline how to write amazing college admission and scholarship essays, including tips about writing exercises and the do's and don'ts of essay writing.
Asian Resources is offering paid summer internships for youth ages 16-24. You need to attend one of their orientations in order to get an application. The orientation dates are April 13 and April 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Orientations are held at ARI Community Services, 5100 El Paraiso Ave., Sacramento, 95824. The Alpha Academy is dedicated to mentoring the young Black men of the Sacramento area. The Academy meets from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the third Saturday of the month from September to May at the Cosumnes River College Library in Room L-111. This is the largest college fair in the Sacramento region.
